From Pasture to Plate, Jones Creek Beef Exudes Quality
The Crandall (Calvin and Wes) and Weingarten (Robert and Mike) families shared the goal of providing the best food for their families. For years, the Crandalls had been offering all-natural, grass-fed, and grass-finished beef to their friends and family.
The Crandall family has ranched in Utah for over five generations. In the 1980s, Calvin desired to find better methods to care for his animals and his land and found the benefits of raising grass-fed, grass-finished beef and rotational grazing methods. He was one of the first ranchers in Utah to implement this practice and found great success in his stewardship over his animals and land.
In 2011, the Crandalls met the Weingartens, and they soon realized they shared similar goals of eating high-quality, locally sourced food. A partnership was formed, and Jones Creek Beef was created. They now provide high-quality beef to families across the United States. All of their beef is born, raised, and harvested in the United States.
“As information has become more readily available through the internet and other means, consumers look to educate themselves about the food they eat,” says Mike Weingarten. “They want what is best for their families and want to do all they can to support local farmers and ranchers.”
Jones Creek Beef is a “value-based company” where they strive to exceed expectations and operate with integrity. The Crandalls and Weingartens want customers to know they are getting exactly what was promised to them: all-natural, grass-fed, grass-finished beef from cows that are treated humanely and ethically.
“We take great pride in the stewardship of our animals, how we raise them, and how we care for the land,” Wes Crandall says. “We want you and your families to enjoy the same quality of beef that we feed our own families.”
Mike Weingarten adds, “We hope to impart peace of mind to our customers, knowing they are feeding their families the best and healthiest beef they will find.”
Several years ago, Robert Weingarten was looking for resources for small businesses, and he found the SBDC. He immediately contacted them and scheduled an appointment to meet with Ken Fakler and Camille Pendleton. He said that first meeting was invaluable as they took time to think of ways to overcome the many challenges growing businesses encounter in their day-to-day operations.
“They welcomed us as if we were the most important business in the world,” says Robert Weingarten. “They have always been so helpful in directing us to resources we may not have known about. They have also brainstormed with us on ways to tackle the obstacles we face. We have really appreciated their guidance.”
Mike Weingarten enthusiastically encourages other potential business owners with a product or service they feel passionate about.
“Believe in yourself and in your dream,” he says. “You will make mistakes, but they aren’t mistakes. They are stop signs to help you change your course, which will lead to your success.”
He also mentions that mentors like SBDC counselors can help guide business owners, but it’s ultimately up to each entrepreneur to see their dream through to the end.
“Go for it, you can do it!” he urges.
