Brigham City

The Box Elder Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is located on Utah State University’s Brigham City main campus (195 W 1100 S Rm. 203). The center is part of the Business Resource Center (BRC), which provides one-on-one business counseling to prospective and current business owners, low-cost office space for start-ups, a business research library, and a state-of-the-art video conference room. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, however SBDC counselors are also available outside of business hours.

A primary concern to local governments, businesses, educational institutions, and citizens in Box Elder County is to strengthen economic development through encouraging business startups and by helping small business ventures grow and thrive. In partnership with the Business Expansion and Retention (BEAR) program, the Box Elder SBDC actively seeks clientele who would benefit from one-on-one business counseling, group training, and even national webinars and seminars.

In addition to the centers’ outreach efforts to provide business counseling and training, the BRC works closely with government agencies and non-profit organizations in the Bear River community to strengthen the regions economic development. Director of the BRC, Jason Yerka, is an active member of several community committees and boards including the Economic Development Alliance, the Box Elder Employers’ Committee, the Brigham City Economic Development Board, and the Brigham City Chamber of Commerce. BRC representation on community boards and committees strengthens the BRC’s capacity to network and build business relationships with other individuals and organizations–which in turn helps SBDC clients connect with business leaders and resources in the region that will support their small business endeavors.

With assistance from the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, Box Elder County, and Utah State University, the Box Elder Small Business Development Center provides business counseling at no-cost, and reduced training fees to entrepreneurs and small business owners.
